
Biography
Jorie is an experienced litigator who specializes in civil rights and tort litigation . She has successfully defended 1983 Constitutional claims, Tort-premise liability claims, and tort-eviction cases. Jorie has successfully litigated multiple matters through appeal and prevailed on numerous motions for summary judgment.
Jorie began her career in private practice representing banks and financial institutions in all aspects of foreclosure procedures. She later moved into public service working for the City of Chicago, where she represented the Office of the City Clerk in a variety of matters including FOIA requests, contract negotiations, House-share/Cannabis petitions, union grievances, and other points of concern for the office. She then later joined the Cook County States Attorney’s Office before making her landing with our firm.
At the States Attorney’s Office, Jorie was a part of the Special Litigation Division- Civil Rights/ Tort Litigation Section. Jorie successfully managed the highest case load in her section and defended numerous cases against the Sheriff’s Office, Cook County, its officeholders, and employees of both entities, in civil suits stemming from civil rights and tort law claims. During her time there, Jorie settled more than 15 cases, had numerous motions granted before the United States Northern District Court of Illinois Eastern Division including motions for summary judgment and motions to dismiss. As well, she has appeared twice before the 7th Circuit of Appeals and filed an affirmative appeal in Illinois Appellate Court. Jorie was also lead counsel for 3 evidentiary hearings, two FOID hearings where she successfully cross-examined over 10 witnesses. As well as a spoliation of evidence hearing in which a Judge ruled in her favor.
Jorie is currently licensed to practice in the state of Illinois, Northern of Illinois District Court, and the United States Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit. She is a current member of the Chicago Bar Association. She earned her J.D. from the John Marshall Law School – University of Illinois Chicago. Jorie holds a Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in Finance with an Insurance minor.
